Getting started: Gather your tools together

1. Poster Kit: Including poster, transparent paper with images for making patterns and scrap sheet of paper for testing paint and pens.

2. Assorted small pieces of decorative paper. Some should be patterned and some plain. Origami paper works well and comes in small packages but you can use any paper that you have on hand. You might want to try wrapping paper or magazine papers.

3. A #2 or HB pencil

4. An eraser

5. A stapler

6. An old magazine for gluing

7. An apron or a clean rag on which to wipe your fingers

8. A cup or jar for cleaning your paint brush.

9. A craft knife that uses a # 11 blade

10. a self healing cutting mat. Office Depot sells a Staedtler #11 Art knife with 5 extra bladea and a 5" x4" cutting mat for $4.29 USD + tax.

11. A small sharp pair of scissors. This is optional. Some people would rather use a pair of scissors than a knife. If you are one of them, we highly recommend the Cutter Bee or Honey Bee scissors.

12. Masking tape or artist's tape

13. An acid free glue stick

14. A pair of tweezers

15. A bone folder or letter opener

16. A small paint brush with a good point. We recommend the Handover series 66, #1.

17. Walnut ink, Burnt Umber gouache or Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils, #118 (Baked Earth) and #119 (Willow) for adjusting the skin colours.

18. Assorted gouache paints, Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils or gel pens for hair.

19. Glitter pens for shoes and accessories.
